It has a thin skin with vertical lobes running across its body. It is used for imparting a sour taste to dishes especially curries. The peel of this fruit is rich in hydroxycitric acid (HCA), which according to the latest findings helps in weight loss. When the fruit ripens, it’s plucked and seeded, sun-dried and then smoked.
