Like its name it is bell shaped red fruits with watery, spongy-crispy, faintly aromatic and thirst-quenching sweet flesh and its being widely eaten raw. The ripened water apple has extensive culinary uses, as it infuses a delicious essence to salads, juices, smoothies, ice creams and jams. Bell fruit is suited to a tropical or warm subtropical climate where there is rainfall fairly well spaced throughout the year. The bell fruit is indigenous to india where it has been cultivated for several centuries.
